Mr. Wu (John) was born in Wenzhou, China. He obtained his Master’s Degree from the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at Shandong University. He has been working as a professional Chinese language teacher since 2007. He has 4 years of overseas teaching experience in South Korea and United States. Now he is a full-time instructor of Zhejiang University. His students range from children to adults, beginners to advanced learners.
What is your favorite sport to play?
Hiking.I like the feeling of exploring an new wild world. When I stand on the top of the mountain, I can feel the sense of accomplishment.
What is your favorite hobby?
Travel around the world. Experience different cultures and enjoy different cuisines.
What is the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
To see my students’ progress and feel their gratitude to me. Teaching is just like raising a baby, small progress will bring you a big contentment.
What is your favorite book and why?
The romance of three kingdoms. I like Chinese history and culture very much. The plot is twisty and characters are so charming. Strongly recommended!
What is your idea of a perfect day?
Nothing can be compared to enjoying a peaceful life with my family.
If given the chance, would you travel to the moon?
Yes. I like adventures.
What is your favorite color?
I like blue and black. They can make me calm.
What is your next travel destination?
I haven’t made any plan yet. If there is a chance, I would like to go to Europe because it is the origin of Western culture.

What does Mandarin teaching mean to you?
Mandarin teaching can help me to understand how people in the world view China, For me, it is a platform to demonstrate a real China to the world, not only its history and culture but also its current situation.
