Sasha was born in Taiwan. Her love of language showed when she was young. Besides English, she learned Japanese when she was at high school. She then kept learning languages and got her bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics. She later wrote a dissertation regarding the neuroscience of bilingualism for her master’s degree at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL). This year will be her ninth language teaching year. Now she is based in Hong Kong, her teaching hours will be mostly suitable for students in Asia and North America.
Fun class, great internet connection. Look forward to the next one with Sasha.
I thought Sasha was really nice and did a good job with the lesson. I think I surprised her by calling her on such a short notice, but she did a good instructing me.
Sasha is a great choice if you want someone more than a conversation partner who is familiar with the Chinese Pod lessons. With her background in linguistics and pedagogy, she knows how to structure her lessons to help you improve your understanding and fluency. Having studied foreign language pedagogy and taught university level Japanese, I have very high expectations about my language learning experiences. I have not been disappointed with Sasha.
Sasha structured the class to help reinforce the new vocabulary and grammer found in the lesson. Time well spent.
As a newbie when it comes to learning by Skype it was very interesting indeed. The session (First complimentary test session) consisted mostly of figuring out where i was on the skills level so there was really no teaching involved. I understand that it is absolutely necessary otherwise it would be very hard for the teacher. Sasha Hse was very attentive and did her best to try and figure out at what level my Mandarin was . I probably wasn't the best student as i was a little nervous talking one-on-one with the teacher. Although there wasn't really any time for learning this first session I do believe this format is way better than only listening to language courses or studding by yourself. I think a combination of the three would be the best bet. As for Sasha she guided me through what was going to happen during that "session" and why she needed to do it, so i cant speak out to how she is as a teacher but I can say she is very nice, well spoken and is not afraid if a giggle or a smile slips out. So verdict....both thumbs up! looking forward to the next session
I really enjoy my classes with Sasha. They are professional but mostly importantly fun!
I very much like the classes with Sasha Hsu. They are challenging, but not too much. Super prepared and organized. Xiexie ni.
Sasha Hsu is an excellent teacher -- patient, knowledgeable and always well-prepared. I particularly like the way the lessons are organized and the interactive way she presents the material using insightful questions as a means of generating discussion. Sasha also uses the whiteboard effectively to present new vocabulary and structures as well as to help me along when my listening comprehension isn't quite up to par. Moreover, I especially appreciate the lesson summaries I receive after each session; they are always comprehensive and informative. Finally, I would like to observe that Sasha has a very pleasant personality and is easy to work with. Since she has been my Chinese teacher, I believe I've made great progress. I look forward to continued study with her in the future.
I've been having lessons with Sasha twice a week for over a year now. She has a terrific teaching style and takes the time to prepare interesting lessons that enhance and build on the set lessons. We always have a laugh in our lessons. She is also very patient which is so important when you are a student learning a new language.
